Job Summary

The Ski Tip Lodge Assistant manager’s core responsibility is to train to and direct a complete, highest quality, front of house meal service. This position works in tandem with the executive chef and culinary team, to create a consistently delivered, best-in-class dining experience. The dining room manager reports to the Ski Tip Lodge general manager and supports the entire operation of this 9 room bed and breakfast and signature dining establishment.

Job Summary

With support and approval of the General Manager:

  • Hire, train, and mentor front of house f&b team members on:
    • established signature dining steps of service,
    • food & beverage service standards,
    • dining room maintenance and appearance for all serviced meal periods and catered events including dinner, après, breakfast and weddings.
  • Establish schedules, administer timely and accurate payroll, and assess year-round performance of the Ski Tip Lodge service team.
  • Work dinner service to ensure guests are properly greeted, seated, and the sequence of service is followed; this includes being accountable for your team operating in a timely manner that meets our quality standards
  • Resourcefully resolve any guest issues that arise and own the outcome
  • Assist the Ski Tip Lodge general manager with overall management of the operation including but not limited to outlet MOD shifts, ordering/ receiving supplies, completing monthly inventory, developing standards, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor, update and maintain the Ski Tip Lodge reservation site, ensuring that dining inventory is current, all information is accurate and guest feedback is reviewed, shared and responded to.
  • Work alongside other outlet team members to create an on-brand beverage program that meets the expectations of the guest and aligns with the company core beverage program guidelines.
  • Abide by and enforce strict health and safety standards, including those established by the state and company
  • Lead the company core-values by example and communicate daily with your team on updates regarding the upcoming shift, Ski Tip Lodge, Keystone Resort and Vail Resorts Inc.
  • Engage in outlet, department and resort management meetings and events
  • Ensure staff completes outlet, company and other required trainings ahead of deadline.
  • Communicate with general manager, fellow outlet management team and outlet stakeholders professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • Current Food Manager Safety Certification through ServSafe and TiPS certification for proper alcohol service management.
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of (3) years of supervisory experience in food service operations
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in upscale or fine dining
  • Proficiency in departmental administration, time reporting, and inventory
  • Familiarity with resort/hotel/high-end restaurant and lodging operations
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; intermediate skills a plus
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Must be a team player who is committed to delivering high-level customer service
  • Adaptable and dependable with a solid attendance record
  • Professional and respectful demeanor with all staff and guests at all times
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimum supervision

Essential Functions:

  • Use standard office equipment, including: computer, phone, copier/scanner, etc.
  • Occasional use of standard kitchen equipment and supplies, including: appliances, tools, knives and food/beverages
  • Keen eye-hand coordination, as well as an astute sense of taste and smell
  • Be stationary or in motion for periods of time (often in motion)
  • Relocate up to (40) pounds

Direct Reports:

  • Team of restaurant front of house staff including hosts, servers and bartenders

The budgeted range starts at $43,000 - $49,450. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
