Job Summary

You are the specialist, example setter, trainer and right hand person for your lift teams and Supervisors. You are responsible for your team’s success and the success of the department as a whole. You will help promote and embrace Vail Resorts’ Mission, Values and Leadership Competencies. You will help to ensure that our guests have a safe, friendly and efficient experience while utilizing our lift system. You will continually assess department policies and procedures to determine best practices, implement efficiencies and optimize fiscal responsibility. You will always set the standard for your team by being safe, looking good and having fun!

Job Responsabilities:

  • Follow and adhere to all company and departmental service standards.
  • Maintain a safe work area, i.e. ramp heights, tools stored, mazes set up, low tip areas shoveled, etc.
  • Abide by operating procedures, i.e. opening procedures, downloading procedures, last chair protocol, health and safety, etc
  • Pleasantly greet, make eye contact, listen and respond to appropriately to every guest’s needs and or questions, in person, outside of the lift building.
  • Actively and efficiently perform maze control.
  • Adapt to changing business levels.
  • Follow and perform all departmental policies and procedures, i.e. punctuality, attendance, dress and grooming standards, etc.
  • Work is performed in an efficient, accurate and organized manner. Be able to problem solve
  • Monitor the operations of the lift continually, and notify appropriate personnel of any problems or unusual conditions.
  • Complete all required paperwork legibly and in a timely manner.
  • Willingly perform expected amount of snow work, i.e., ramp work, maze work, low tip work, etc.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping pertaining to all operational log sheets.
  • Assist Lift Operators with incident investigation paperwork.
  • Adhere to all ski/ride policies, i.e., personal jackets, Responsibility Code, designated trails, etc.
  • Check tickets if necessary; ensure that riders have valid ticket; refuse entry to snow riders without valid ticket, and refer to appropriate personnel for assistance.
  • Ensure that lift staff is meeting all safety and appearance standards at all times.
  • Schedule breaks and lunches for staff operating assigned lifts.
  • Coach Lift Operators if they are feeling challenged with their work or if they are not performing to our expected standards.
  • Report any staffing issues to Foreman or Supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure that the lifts you are responsible for are abiding by all ANSI, departmental and company standards. Report any issues immediately to your Supervisor if you can not correct a situation on your own.
  • Disseminate information to team members.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old at beginning of employment – Required
  • Strong guest service skills – Preferred
  • Must be able to come to work on time, when scheduled - Required
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and/or evenings as necessary. We are a 7-day a week operation. - Required
    • “You will be scheduled to work 5 days a week at any point during the season”
  • Must be able to work throughout the entire season - Required
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. - Required
  • Must be able to work outdoors for up to 12 hours in all winter weather conditions at altitude (7000’)- Required
  • Must like to have fun and work in a team environment- Required
  • Must have leadership experience (lift lead, project manager, coach, etc) – Preferred
  • Must have some lift operations experience - Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent - Required
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English – Required
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, hear, see, repetitive motions, carry - Required
  • Ski or snowboard at an Intermediate level (if not you will be assigned to lifts that do not require you to ski or ride to get to your work station, there are limited positions) – Required
  • Valid and clean Driver’s License- Preferred
  • Must be safety oriented - Required
  • Basic high school education desirable, showing basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work quickly and alertly, and to strictly observe safety procedures.
  • Ability to learn a variety of information about activities, events, policies, schedules, etc. pertaining to Park City and the local area.
  • Ability to deal with customers in a courteous, efficient and confident/authoritative manner.
  • Highest level of guest service skills and reliability.
  • Extremely positive attitude to assigned tasks.

The budgeted range starts at $21 - $26. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
