SUMMARY OF JOB:
A biking enthusiast who is responsible for assembling bikes, completing repair diagnosis and performing downhill bike repairs as needed. Provide customers with the highest level of service, recommend products to enhance the customer’s cycling experience, and perform duties of a bike tech and cashier as needed.

  • Skill Level: Intermediate

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Protect company liability in regard to services performed
  • Responsible for oversight of Bike Repair Shop, including routine maintenance and repairs of rental fleet bikes. Also functions as a rental technician and retail cashier as needed.
  • Efficiently assemble and tune bikes using the proper tools while following all safety procedures
  • Build new bikes and completing initial service/safety checks. Completing routine maintenance; brake bleeds, derailleur adjustments, trueing wheels, suspension service, etc. Repair bikes as and when they break; flat tires, broken derailleur cables, changing parts etc.
  • Responsible for properly selecting, inspecting, adjusting, and dispatching gear (Bikes, helmets, pads), completing rental agreements and Releases of Liability while following shop and manufacturers’ policies and procedures.
  • Ensure service paperwork is completed legibly, accurately, and filed accordingly
  • Ensure all proper housekeeping methods and overall cleanliness of the shop is adhered to
  • Responsible for inventory control of shop. Prepare purchase requests for department manager. Processes paperwork and reports as required.
  • Intermediate Associate Mechanics will be asked to take part in daily meetings, daily equipment maintenance, daily shop upkeep and maintenance, data entry, special projects, inventory, locating lost/missing equipment and training programs. Other duties may be assigned.


  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 1 year bike mechanic experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of current downhill bicycle technology, repair and service.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Able speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Intermediate Associate Mechanic must have a general knowledge of department’s offerings (gear, tickets, lift, lesson, rental programs) and resort (restrooms, drinking fountains, restaurants, administration offices, tool benches).
  • Know where to find safety information, SOP’s, and general guest information. Know how to properly complete paperwork associated with all aspects of the Bike Shop.
  • Operate cash register, bike rental point of sale, and monitor rental reservations daily

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to use hand tools, type, reach with hands or arms; and talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk, bend, or kneel.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
